5 clones of Syrah plus some Viognier skins in the ferment. 30% whole-bunch. Grown at the Rushbrook Vineyard on a north facing slope overlooking Lake Waingaro. Elevated inland site with tough volcanic gravelly loam soil, moderate rainfall, very windy, very low vigour. Aged in one third new French oak.
Highly aromatic, pepper, floral, and dark fruit. Linear palate with a solid tannin shell.
