We’ve just finished pressing off the last reds off the year, and it’s a great feeling. 2015 has been kind to us here in Northland. There were a few scary looking weather maps along the way, but in the end, it’s turned out to be one of the best seasons of the last decade. A cool spring meant that yields were down a bit, but good sunny days and low rainfall from January through to the end of April meant that the grapes ripened perfectly. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc were picked first, under the threat of Cyclone Pam (which came to not much!) but with great flavour and sugar levels, they were ready to go! Viognier this year was down a bit, but quality was the best we’ve ever had from Rushbrook. The Syrah was late but with great flavours. All in all an excellent year! Bring on 2016!
